Doctor Smurf is a character who only appeared in the original comics by Peyo. He was featured as a minor character in the cartoon show going by the name Dabbler Smurf in an later season.
Doctor Smurf has a very superficial knowledge of medicine and health, often based on natural remedies: eggplant extract, whitethorn extract elixir, horehound tea, codfish liver oil, wormwood, four-leaf clovers, hawthorn root... He uses several medical books as sources of knowledge to give prescriptions to his patients. However, he's proud of his work, which is harmful at worst.
The real doctor of the Smurf Village is Papa Smurf, but in the Doctor Smurf story, Doctor Smurf creates a hospital and unknowingly endangers Papa Smurf's health by giving him a potion of wormwood mixed with a concoction of four-leaf clovers.
